Steve Summerlin is a life long resident of Gainesville, Florida where he resides with his wife, Judy, and raised his two children in this city. He has been in the insurance and financial industry since 1971 while being part of numerous organizations, such as NAIFA and Million Dollar Round Table, for example. Steve served as the President of the Florida Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (FAIFA) for two terms, 1991-1992 and 1998-1999. He has authored numerous professional trade journal articles and been a keynote speaker on multiple occasions in the financial services industry.
Steve has earned several awards during his time in the financial services industry as well. He was awarded ‘Financial Advisor of the Year,’ by his Gainesville peers (GAIFA) in 1985 and 1991. He also earned that title from his peers of the state of Florida (FAIFA) in 1996. That award, known as the C.G. Snead award is the highest award recognizing contribution to the industry, community, and clients.
Steve has been involved with his community serving on a number of boards throughout the years including The Cris Collinsworth Foundation, Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Resource Center, and Franklin Graham Festival 2002 (in which he was the finance committee chair).
In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife (often to visit his three grandkids), reading, and leading his church’s weekly family group.
